Learned early that hard work equates to money which equates to freedom

University of Waterloo - initially Applied Mathematics

RADAR DESIGNER for Military, Civilian ATC , 3rd and 4th years  

FORTUNATE to BE INVOLVED IN DSP AS IT BECAME MAINSTREAM

MILITARY -> MUSIC -> COMMUNICATIONS -> CELLULAR -> INTERNET

iii)  Marketing - on the Job Training

Went into Marketing to make more SALARY 

UNSUCCESSFUL, NaiVE - DID NOT UNDERSTAND OR APPRECIATE STRATEGIC MARKETING

iv) Started HotHaus in 1994  

100k Salary to 0k for 2 years and invested 75k in RRSP

Invented a DSP OS (FRAMEWORK) and LICENSED DSP TELEPHONY APPS

1996 - 500k in revenue, from Telco: NORTEL, LUCENT, ATT, AlCATEL and a few NETCOs:  3Com, Newbridge)

PIONEERED VOIP software for getting telco (circuit) quality telephone over IP based Data Newtorks (packet) 

TELCOS at War with NETCOs 

1998 -$5M in REVENUE 6 OFFICE worldwide - 50 employees, absolutely unknown in BC

SOLD in AUGUST 1999 to BROADCOM for TELEPHONE over CABLE (Rogers/SHaW Home Phone) $420M

v) VP - Broadcom in California - 5 years
